Malika has had a love for drawing and designing for as long as she can remember. As a child she was already looking for beautiful shapes and lines that are visually appealing. She made the magnolia vase for Heinen Delfts Blauw. "I wanted to create a vase that would allow everyone to arrange flowers in different ways. At the same time, I also wanted the vase to be a cool, visually intriguing addition to an interior. The shape of the vase, seen from above, resembles the magnolia flower, so there comes the name from."

Delft blue vases

"I have been an admirer of the beauty of classic Delft blue porcelain for years. I grew up in Russia and there we mainly know Gzhel, a movement of porcelain that originated at the beginning of the 19th century. The Russian master painters started their products in white and shades of blue and was inspired by Dutch Delft blue, so I grew up with a Russian variant of blue patterns on a white background."
