A jubilee collection full of craftsmanship and tradition

On the occasion of Heinen Delfts Blauw’s 50th anniversary, we proudly present The Heritage Collection. This special jubilee collection celebrates the history of our family business and Dutch cultural heritage. Each piece in the collection showcases craftsmanship, identity, and a genuine love for our history.

The influence of traditional costume and Spakenburg

The Heritage Collection is a tribute to the rich influences that have shaped Delft Blue and our company. These roots trace back to the Spakenburg fishing harbor in 1975, where founder Jaap Heinen painted porcelain. At requests, he also decorated the scarves worn by women in traditional dress—the canvas for his first designs. That’s why many patterns and symbols from Dutch traditional costumes are featured throughout the collection.

Reference to the Japanese Imari style

The collection also contains clear references to the Japanese Imari style, recognizable by its vibrant colors and elegant patterns. Jaap Heinen initially painted in the Imari style but gradually transitioned to Delft Blue painting. Thus, different cultures and centuries-old crafts come together in a collection that connects tradition with modern design.

Artist Pepijn van den Nieuwendijk

Artist Pepijn van den Nieuwendijk designed The Heritage Collection for Heinen Delfts Blauw. This talented painter is known for his imaginative style and his love for historical themes. For this collection, he immersed himself in the world of traditional costumes, sailor stories, and ancient crafts, transforming it all into a collection full of meaning and symbolism.
