Description
A cheerful tea towel full of traditional Dutch patterns. This tea towel is part of The Heritage Collection and features the pattern ‘Seven Roses’. The design was created by artist Pepijn van den Nieuwendijk and is inspired by the distinctive traditional costumes from various regions of the Netherlands. These costumes were not only decorative but also played an important role in expressing a community’s identity. From the fabrics, patterns, caps, and jewelry, you could tell where someone came from, what their status was, and even whether they were married or in mourning. The red rose was an important symbol of marriage. Brides wore traditional dress with a bodice made of silk, embroidered with seven red roses. Six is the number of imperfection, eight represents perfection and is reserved for God. The number seven symbolizes the completeness that is attainable for humans: happiness, hope, and love. The tea towel is made of 100% cotton and jacquard woven.
