Heinen Delfts Blauw is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. For this golden jubilee, we’re going back to the roots of our family business, where father Jaap Heinen began painting porcelain in the Imari style at a local market in 1975. The vibrant colors — iron red, cobalt blue, and gold — leapt from the white porcelain, catching the attention of passersby among the modest Dutch market stalls. People would stop and admire the striking oriental brilliance. Jaap Heinen’s painting talent did not go unnoticed. Orders came in so quickly that his son, Jorrit, stepped in to help. Together, they eventually opened a shop in Amsterdam — and so the story of Heinen Delfts Blauw began. A golden history! The special Imari collection takes us back to the very first designs painted by father and son. This canvas shopper is richly decorated with an artistic Imari pattern in the iconic colors.
