How to keep your water bottle clean
1. Clean the water bottle with warm water and a little fairy liquid. First rinse the water bottle after use and then fill it with hot water and a drop of dish soap. Screw the cap on tightly and shake it. Rinse again to avoid soap residue. Our water bottles have an opening large enough to clean the bottle with a bottle brush if necessary. Don't forget to clean the outside and cap as well. When you're done, turn the water bottle upside down and a little tilted to dry, with the cap next to it. Or twist a thin, well-absorbent cloth into the bottle until you have thoroughly rubbed all the corners dry. If you want to make sure the water bottle dries well, you can also put it on the heater without the cap on for a while.
2. If you want to give your water bottle a good cleaning, or you're on vacation and don't have dishwashing liquid handy, you can also use special tablets to clean your water bottle. Leave the tablet in your water bottle in hot water for fifteen minutes, rinse it out and your water bottle is ready to use again. You can also use special denture cleaners for this, but those tablets have to soak in the bottle a lot longer to properly clean the water bottle.
3. The holy grail in cleaning land: baking soda. For a stainless steel water bottle, you can also use baking soda. If your water bottle has developed an unpleasant odor or taste, you can give it a good cleaning with baking soda. Put a teaspoon of baking soda in the water bottle, pour in hot water and leave the bottle for a few hours. With no cap on it! Then pour out the water with the baking soda, rinse the water bottle thoroughly again, and the bottle is ready to use.
4. While water bottles are made for holding water, they are less fond of remaining drops of moisture. Especially if you don't use your water bottle every day! So make sure that when you put your water bottle in the cupboard, that you take off the cap. If there is any residual water left in the bottle it can cause bacteria and mold, giving you nasty odors. So always store without the cap so that even the last of the moisture evaporates from the water bottle.
