The American tattoo artist Britton McFetridge created a special piece of art for Heinen Delft Blue. The succesfull tattoo parlor owner has tens of thousands of fans of his work and used the occassion to apply his art onto one of our handmade ceramic products. The result is a one of a kind Delft blue wall plate.
McFetridge is a master in creating amazing tattoos with a unique look, but he also has a deep love for painting on ceramics. He studied art in univeristy and specialised in the art of painting and pottery. He is the proud owner of the Royal Peacock Tattoo Parlor in Sacramento, California. He is one of the few tattoo artists that also applies his artwork onto ceramics and who has a special interest in the Delft blue art of painting. "Worldwide there are only a handful of people that do what I do", McFetridge explains while painting. On his plate the picture of a fighting eagle and a snake appears. A typical scene you would expect as a tattoo, but not on a Delft blue handmade wall plate and yet it works.

"I don't have any education in the Delft blue painting technique, but I am completely self taught in that area by just trying new things and searching the internet for instructions." At first sight the American tattoo artist and the fragile porcelain seem an unusual combination, but it is this fresh look on things that leads to surprising and beautiful works of art. "My love for Delft blue started during a visit to Amsterdam. I saw it there for the first time and loved it straight away. Even the very traditional items. Simply beautiful", says Britton. "I think in the next few years Delft blue is only becoming more and more popular. it is timeless and the possibilities with the designs are endless."
