The wall plates by visual artist Redmer Hoekstra are highly detailed illustrations of unusual scenes. For his collection at Heinen Delfts Blauw, he drew his familiar, laughable animals that use the Heinen Delfts Blauw collection as a means of transport.
Redmer Hoekstra's work is characterized by an alienating world full of humour. Mainly animals and nature are often the subject of his illustrations, combined with the human world.
“I associate on form, meaning and effect, which creates new combinations. Often surprising and funny, but also with a strange kind of logic. Strange shapes such as the tulip vase and beautiful Delft blue patterns gave me a lot of inspiration.”
The plates are all different, but are easy to combine with each other because the animals live in the same absurd world in which everything seems to be possible.
Redmer Hoekstra is a visual artist and illustrator, for Heinen Delfts Blauw he designed five different wall plates using fineliner on paper. Redmer Hoekstra studied at the Art Academy in Zwolle as a visual artist and illustrator. His creative and inspiring illustrations come from a way of looking at the contemporary. As a small child, Redmer already had an opinion about how the world worked. He has managed to translate that into beautiful illustrations.
