Richard Hutten
Wall Plates
Richard Hutten's collection of wall plates for Heinen Delfts Blauw immediately stand out with their circular lines, offering a retro look.
"Each wall plate has its origin in a painting from the Rijksmuseum," Richard explains about his design. "Even the most abstract design can be traced back to a still life from the 17th century. On some wall plates, you can still see a fragment of the original painting. By stretching the paintings in a way that's akin to pixel stretching, I unravel the old artworks. The many colors hidden in such a painting, I bring forth and translate into the round shape of the wall plate."
