This porcelain dessert plate has a diameter of 15 cm and is part of the Blauw Bloesem collection by Dutch designer Debbie Wijskamp. Porcelain is exceptionally durable, helping the plate retain its beauty even with frequent use. Fired at very high temperatures, it is also dishwasher, oven and microwave safe.
The Blauw Bloesem collection is distinguished by its characteristic handmade rim, inspired by the appearance of antique earthenware. As each rim is shaped by hand, no two dessert plates are exactly alike. This subtle variation celebrates the beauty of traditional craftsmanship.
According to designer Debbie Wijskamp, true beauty lies in the transient and the imperfect. Her Blauw Bloesem tableware collection is a reflection of that philosophy. Defined by classic round shapes and soft, flowing lines, the collection allows the textures and Delft blue decorations to take centre stage.
"Traditionally, Delft blue tableware features large decorative motifs. I wanted to isolate small details and place them along one side of the ceramic piece," Debbie explains. "The decoration seems to emerge from the rim, giving the tableware a calm, understated appearance. It also ensures the decoration remains visible, whatever is being served. When you beautifully plate a dish, the food naturally sits in the centre, leaving the decoration unobstructed."
