Description

Immerse yourself in the wonderful world of illustrator Redmer Hoekstra. For Heinen Delfts Blauw, the humorous and philosophical artist has created a special series of wall plates, including this progressing group of strange birds that have chased a nautilus out of its shell to go to high tea. Or maybe it's a giant snail after all. Who knows. The wall plates are instantly recognizable by their daydreamy illustrations. A bold collection of surreal animals come marching, swimming or rolling into the Delft blue world of Heinen Delfts Blauw. The twittering group of strange birds are crammed hut-covered into the nautilus shell, but they apparently have not yet realized that they are no longer at sea. The oars keep turning tirelessly, even over dry land. Probably the group of twitterers are on their way to high tea with their good friends the pelican and the vulnerable whale in a teapot. Or maybe you see an entirely different story in it. The physical discomfort of the crammed birds, is a recurring theme within Redmer zjin work, it is a source of his humor. For Redmer, the biggest challenge was to bring his alienating world together with the world of Heinen Delfts Blauw. “I used Delft blue elements from Heinen's collection as a starting point for the illustrations and built my world around them. A world in which all the protagonists live. That way they shine on their own, but they also go well together.” Choose one wall plate to stand out on your wall, or combine the entire collection together for a humorous wall on which you will constantly discover new, funny details.
