Tulip vase - Triple Gourd - White - Ceramic - 35 cm

A white tulip vase composed of three rounded layers. This snow white tulip vase is one of our most iconic tulip vases. The tulip vase consists of three tiers that all have a round shape. This is also called a triple gourd vase. Around the convex bellies of the vase, there are several spouts scattered that protrude slightly upward. At the very top, one spout sticks straight up as the centerpiece. The tulip vase originated after Queen Mary the second commissioned Delft's earthenware potters to make a vase with which she could fill her quarters with fresh flowers. The tulip vase then became wildly popular and also played an important role in the tulip mania in Holland, when some varieties of tulips cost more money than a canal house in Amsterdam. Such expensive flowers could not, of course, be put in an ordinary vase. The various spouts of the tulip vase give the delicate flower stems firm support so that the flowers are not damaged and remain beautiful longer. Something we still benefit from today.
