Bring Dutch coziness and the relaxed charm of the Mediterranean to your table with this studded-edged plate from our Majolica collection. Inspired by centuries-old majolica traditions from Southern Europe and the rich legacy of Delftware, this collection is where two worlds meet resulting in a playful, hand-painted tableware line with a warm and inviting look. Majolica was the forerunner of Delft blue and was introduced to the Netherlands in the 16th century via Italy and Spain. Italian potters collaborated with Delft faience makers, creating a unique style: loosely painted ceramics with blue decorations on a white tin glaze. This technique forms the artistic foundation of our collection. Each Majolica breakfast plate is hand-painted with expressive, free-flowing brushstrokes. No two pieces are exactly alike and it’s these small imperfections that give the tableware its charm and individuality. The raised studs, or ‘noppen’, are a nod to the traditional studded plates once used in Dutch folk pottery. The tactile relief along the rim adds a distinctive, artisanal touch to the design.
Despite its Southern influences, this plate still feels unmistakably Dutch. The familiar Delft blue hues, classic shapes like studded edges and wavy rims, and the visible craftsmanship make this breakfast plate a contemporary tribute to Dutch ceramic history.
