step 1: Colours & Symbols

Choose a Christmas Theme

Styling your dining table for Christmas dinner may seem like quite a challenge. To create a beautifully dressed table without the stress, we'll take it one step at a time. Let's start at the beginning! Choose a theme for your Christmas table. The Christmas themes for 2026 are Vintage Feeling, Winter Wonderland and Iconic Dutch, but you can also focus on a particular subject, just as Janny van der Heijden has done with her angel-themed collection.

Your chosen theme will determine the main colours of your table, from warm, traditional Christmas shades such as ruby red and forest green to royal Delft blue paired with brass and crystal.

step 2: Decorations & Flowers

Build Up The Layers

Now that you've chosen your main theme and Christmas colours, it's time to start dressing the table. We'll do this layer by layer, starting with a tablecloth or table runner. Choose one that complements your Christmas theme, with coordinating patterns and colours. For our table, we've chosen a royal blue tablecloth topped with a festive red table runner. Two rich, warm colours that contrast beautifully and add depth to the overall look.

Next, choose a centrepiece to serve as the focal point of your table, taking its shape into account. This could be a tiered tulip vase filled with holly, a festive arrangement of greenery surrounded by candlesticks, or a large serving bowl filled with beautiful Christmas baubles.

For our table, we've opted for an elongated floral arrangement in a tone-on-tone style, combining several shades from the same colour family. This creates a rich, luxurious look while maintaining a sense of harmony, balance and calm.

step 3: Mix & Match

Combine Dinnerware Collections

The main attraction at any Christmas dinner is the food, but the stage on which it's served is just as important: the dinnerware! A well-chosen dinnerware collection allows your guests to fully enjoy the delicious food and good company. Plates should be spacious enough to hold generous portions without sauces spilling over the edges, jugs should pour smoothly without dripping, and soup bowls should be deep enough to comfortably enjoy every last spoonful.

This Christmas, we're literally bringing out everything in our cupboards to create an abundant and beautifully dressed table. For our Christmas table, we've combined our Blauw Vouw, Blauw Bloesem and Paauw Blauw collections to create a rich, layered look. The abundance of textures, patterns and shapes gives the eye something new to discover at every glance, while the overlapping shades of blue and white bring everything together. So feel free to mix and match your favourite dinnerware collections to create a feast for the eyes.

step 4: Candlelight & Gifts

Add Some Special Touches

Your Christmas table is now almost ready for dinner. The tablecloth, floral arrangement and dinnerware are all in place. It's time to add those final details that bring warmth and atmosphere to the table.

Add elegant candlesticks to bathe the table in a warm, gentle glow. The soft candlelight enhances the beautiful shine of the porcelain dinnerware and creates a more intimate atmosphere. Place a stylish name card next to each dinner plate, matching your chosen Christmas theme, to make every guest feel welcome and special. And why not surprise them with a few small, beautifully wrapped gifts?

Now all that's left to do is invite everyone to the table for a delicious and truly unforgettable Christmas dinner!
