Boris van Berkum

Boris van Berkum

In collaboration with Heinen Delfts Blauw, Boris van Berkum has created his Kabra Blauw collection. The decorative objects are based on the African Kabra mask and the traditional Delft blue lidded vase, and ai mto create a symbolic reminder of the slavery past of the Netherlands. “In the Afro-Surinamese winti culture, the colors blue and white represent the Kabra, the ancestors. Delft blue has been a traditional Dutch product since the 17th century. What happens when we bring those two traditions together in one showpiece? Will there be such a thing as Kabra Blauw?”

Boris van Berkum

Boris van Berkum is a typical neo-artist, who combines styles and forms from different time periods, cultures and religions in new works of art. He does this after extensive research and in close collaboration with representatives of those cultures. He works in a variety of media, ceramics and bronze in combination with 3D modeling techniques.

Designers

Heinen Delfts Blauw strives to stay creative to keep Delft blue alive for the generations to come. Such an important cultural heritage of the Netherlands must of course continue to exist. That is why it is important to collaborate with various well-known Dutch designers and celebrities to develop innovative Delft blue products. Over the years we have worked with various designers, celebrities and artists including Loes van Delft, Redmer Hoekstra and Janny van der Heijden.
