Hand painted animal portraits
Dutch landscapes have always been central to Delft Blauw porcelain. With our new wall plates collection “Hand-painted animal portraits” we want to focus on the main characters from these old-Dutch vistas. The result is a beautiful series of wall plates that are completely hand painted with very recognizable faces.
Traditional wall plates
Traditional wall plates or vases have long been richly decorated with dreamy views of typical Dutch landscapes. Vast meadows, old Dutch windmills, fishing boats that slowly float past and here and there a hidden farm. Beautiful paintings full of details of a Netherlands that we know all too well, but for which there is also less and less space because farms have to make way for new buildings and mills that turn more ceremonially than they are actually used to grind grain.
Heinen Delfts Blauw's slogan is 'creating new traditions' and we try to reflect that conviction in all our products. That means continuously searching for very traditional forms of our Delft Blauw product and giving it a refreshing twist. This is reflected in our modern Delft Blauwe tableware that is extremely popular or the traditional tulip vases that we have released in all kinds of sleek and colored versions.
Our latest collection of wall plates is also part of this. We wanted to find a way to bring together Dutch peasant culture and traditional Delft Blauwe landscapes in a fresh, modern collection. The result is wall plates that this time do not focus on the landscape itself, but on the main characters in this landscape. Think of the oh so useful farm cat that chases mice and rats away from the supplies of food, the newborn deer that looks curiously with its ears and listens to its first day in the green meadows or the alert hare that quickly hops everywhere in between in search of a fresh bite of grass.
The animals are all hand-painted and the master painters of Heinen Delfts Blauw have applied them to the plates with modern strokes. You can see beautiful details of the animals and it sometimes almost looks like a Delft Blauw watercolor instead of the well-known leaves and ox heads. No fuss, lots of functional white and only the main character who is central. All in all, this makes for a beautiful series of Delft blauwe wall plates that belong in every Dutch household.
Ceramic wall plates from Heinen Delft Blauw
The wall plates have been incredibly popular with many households in the Netherlands for years. That is why we have had several collections made in which Delft Blauw always comes back. For example, we have a collection that focuses on the style of the Rijksmuseum. Think of the Girl with the Pearl Earring and Vermeer, but also wall plates with the theme of the Golden Age. By combining them in different sizes you get a playful and stylish wall that is a real eye-catcher!
