Artist Victor de Bie comes from a family of artist and graduated at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie. This visual artist loves to create his own world through drawings, paintings and by making new objects that combine multiple styles. You recognize his work by unusual shapes, bold colors or black and white contrasts.

Victor de Bie is the creator and designer of the Foudamour collection by Heinen Delfts Blauw. “I wish i could gift a piece of myself to you.” With that thought the artist wanders the streets, looking for a special gift for someone. The possible gifts that pass his hands inside the many stores, don’t give him that wow-feeling. Something handmade, precious and that also carries a personal message. “If i can’t find such a gift, I’ll just have to make it myself”, he thought and so he did. The result is his collection of precious giftware by Heinen Delfts Blauw.

“I absolutely love it that my collection is completely hand-made here at the factory of Heinen Delfts Blauw”, says a enthousiastic Victor. “It is very important for me that it becomes a honest, quality and entirely hand-made product from The Netherlands. It has to have value. When you hold a Foudamour chandlestick in your hand you feel it is something special. It is almost as if you can feel the patience and the love for the craft by the maker, and that feeling is what you pass on to the receiver of the gift.”

The candlesticks from the Foudamour collection are all made in the shape of figurines with their own personality. Each one of them is entirely handmade and hand-painted by the ceramic technicians and the master painters at Heinen Delfts Blauw. The Delft blue pattern is very recognizable for most people. It is a decoration they have seen a lot and many people have it in their own homes. This familiarity with the colors and decorations, allowed me to play with unusual and crazy shapes of the object itself. That explains the name of the collection, Foudamour, which is French for; Crazy about love.” The collection is entirely designed by Victor. “I love focussing on faces, so that is the main focus point.”

Victor de Bie comes from a family of artists and graduated in 2001 from the Gerrit Rietveld Academie as a fashion designer. He is raised in a bilingual home (French and Dutch), which explains the French name for the collection. After an impressive carreer in the fashion world, he decides to continue as an independent artist. As a visual artist he creates his own universe through drawings, paintings and making objects. He reflects on the world around him in an autobiographical way, in which he always looks to push the boundaries between art and design.
