An elegant tableware set for one person! This tableware set contains a dinner plate, a breakfast plate, a yoghurt bowl and a tea mug from the Paauw Blauw collection by Heinen Delfts Blauw. The tableware is decorated with a stately peacock proudly showing its feathers. Just as Delft blue porcelain has its origins in the Far East, the same can be said about the peacock. The peacock is the oldest known ornamental bird that first arrived in Europe from Sri Lanka more than four thousand years ago. Over the centuries, peacock feathers have acquired special meanings. For example, in the Chinese Empire, a peacock feather was worn on the hat as a high distinction and the feather was said to bring luck and love. In addition, Heinen Delft Blue has a special connection with the peacock as a symbol. This graceful tableware is a tribute to our former Delft blue factory called 'De Paauw'. A pottery factory that dates back to 1651 and was still produced under the name 'De Delftse Pauw'. This factory was one of the few factories that continued the tradition of completely hand-painted Delft blue pottery.
