This richly decorated porcelain bowl with monkeys and traditional Delft blue details is part of the Sharing Moments collection by Janny van der Heijden. Known as the host of the Dutch version of The Great British Bake Off and a passionate collector of Delft blue porcelain. So together with Heinen Delfts Blauw she created her own tableware collection by the name Sharing Moments. The first edition of this collection was all about lush tulips and bold stripes, but the latest addition to the collection is all about monkeys. These satirical monkeys might seem very modern but they were a popular theme on Delft blue porcelain, four hundred years ago . “Monkey business is a synonym for pulling pranks and for imitating human behaviour”, says Janny about her new design. “The playful monkeys on the new tableware set for Heinen Delfts Blauw brings a smile to your face. This theme of monkeys in funny situations has been a popular décor on porcelain for over four hundred years and we love to bring them back to the dining table. In Asia they often decorate porcelain with monkeys as a symbol for wisdom and a long life.” The inside of the bowl is decorated with exotic flowers and playful monkeys while the outside is decorated with Delft blue dots. The porcelain bowl is dishwasher, oven and microwave proof. The Sharing Moments collection has the sub collections Tulip and Monkeys and is created by Janny van der Heijden and Heinen Delfts Blauw.
